Pepe's is my all time favorite pizza. I regularly visit from NJ just to get their amazing white clam pie (oil, garlic, cheese and clams). Also love adding roasted chicken as a topping. The chicken is tender and falls apart. So Good. Also, if your not familiar with the Dixon Park soda, they have it there. Be sure to get the Gassosa flavor. Weekends there is usually a wait, but the line moves fast and is well worth it.
I've heard about this place for years, but not being from the area never had a chance to try it. But vising family who were familiar with it gave me an excuse. It's every bit as good as I hoped. The pizza is different from any other place I can think of, with very thin crust that still somehow is solid enough to support the toppings. We shared a couple of pies and the famous white clam was just as good as advertised. The pepperoni was also very good. I'll gladly visit again next time I'm in the area.
Frank Pepe's is some of the best pizza I've ever had! If you are ever in the New Haven/Bridgeport area, it is definitely worth ordering a pie. Dine in or take out, either is great! Their seasonal summer pie with fresh basil and tomatoes is amazing!
High ceiling semi industrial space with white tile walls and booth seating. Lots of background noise which creates a nice buzz. Pizza is very good but on the watery side. Wine comes in a small highball glass like my grandfather used to drink from. Staff was friendly and helpful. There is free parking.
This is the Fairfield location of a legendary New Haven pizza place. The pizza is great. It is on the thinner side, and the dough is nice and chewy, with a crispy, slightly burnt crust. The clam pizza is one of the best, but all of them are great. I really like their pepperoni because they use thick slices, not the paper-thin kind you find at most pizza places. It gets busy, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, so go before 7 or after 9 unless you don't mind waiting. It can get noisy inside, so my wife and I usually do take out. It is very family friendly. The staff is young, but very nice and accommodating. The wait times on take out orders can be long during peak hours, but they are usually very accurate when they tell you how long it'll take.
